Türkiye Shatters Tourist Records with 7.3 Million Visitors in July
Türkiye has once again proven itself as a top global destination, welcoming a record-breaking 7.3 million tourists in July, marking the highest number of arrivals for a single month. This remarkable milestone is setting the stage for the country to surpass last year's total of 49.2 million visitors.
According to the latest figures from the Culture and Tourism Ministry, Türkiye experienced a 2.6 percent increase in foreign tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year. From January through July, the country hosted nearly 29 million international tourists, reflecting an 8.27 percent year-on-year growth. When including the 4.49 million Turkish citizens returning from abroad, the total number of visitors reached an impressive 33.47 million.
Antalya, the jewel of the Turkish Riviera, continued to lead as the top destination, attracting 2.6 million international tourists in July alone. Istanbul, the bustling metropolis and cultural hub, followed closely behind with 1.9 million visitors. The northwestern province of Edirne, known for its historical significance and proximity to Bulgaria and Greece, welcomed over 803,000 tourists.
In terms of nationalities, Germans topped the list as the most frequent visitors, with over 1 million arriving in Türkiye, marking a 10 percent increase from the previous year. Russian tourists were the second-largest group, with more than 922,000 visitors in July, representing a 4.2 percent rise compared to last year. The British and Polish markets also showed strong numbers, with 660,906 and 319,552 visitors respectively.
As Türkiye continues to draw visitors from around the globe, the country’s tourism sector is poised for another record-breaking year, further solidifying its position as a premier travel destination.
